Terms of Service

These terms cover rocketclient.net, the Rocket Client launcher, the Minecraft client jar, the cosmetics workshop, and related APIs (together, the "Service"). Rocket Client is a private unofficial project run by one person who lives in Germany. It is not a company and not a registered business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios, Microsoft, Discord, or any Minecraft server network.

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What this is

The Service is unofficial software and a website for Minecraft Java Edition 1.8.9. "Minecraft" is a trademark of Mojang Studios. We do not claim Mojang or Microsoft trademarks. Official game files the launcher downloads come from Mojang, Microsoft, or other third parties under their terms. We do not sell Minecraft.

2. License to you

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the launcher and client for your own gameplay, as long as you follow these terms. We can change, suspend, or end the Service or your access at any time, with or without a reason, without notice and without liability.

You may not:

  • sell, rent, or commercially redistribute the Service or our builds;
  • pretend to be us, or use our name or marks to imply official Mojang status;
  • attack, scrape abusively, or try to break the website, APIs, or other users' accounts;
  • upload malware, illegal content, stolen work, or content you do not have the right to upload;
  • use the Service to break applicable law.

3. Your responsibility (servers, Mojang, Discord)

You are responsible for how you use the client on any server, and for following:

  • Mojang / Microsoft Minecraft terms and the Minecraft EULA;
  • the rules and terms of every server you join;
  • Discord's terms if you sign in or join our server.

If a server, Mojang, Microsoft, or Discord bans you, restricts you, or takes action against your account, that is between you and them. We are not liable for bans, lost items, lost progress, or lost accounts.

4. Accounts and access

Some features need a Discord login. Online Minecraft needs a legitimate Minecraft Java account. Sign-in is enough. There is no extra Discord role to play. Access is a privilege, not a right. We may refuse, limit, or revoke access (including the workshop and launcher APIs) if we think you abused the Service or these terms.

You must be at least 16. If you are 13 to 15, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission. You also have to be allowed to use Discord and Minecraft under their rules. Do not use the Service if those products do not allow you.

5. Workshop and user content

If you upload cosmetics or other content, you keep the rights you already have in that content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, show, and deliver it as needed to run the workshop and the client. That includes letting other people view, download, and wear it in-game when you make it public or share a link. You confirm you made it or otherwise have the right to upload it, and that it is not stolen, illegal, or pretending to be official Rocket or Mojang merch.

Screenshot links you make in the client are public. Anyone with the link can see and download the image until we remove it.

We may reject, hide, or delete any submission for any reason. If you delete an item, it leaves the public catalog. People who already added it may keep a copy until we take it down. A deleted file may sit in an admin trash for a short time, then be erased. Public items that other people still use may stay hosted until we remove them.

6. Copyright complaints

If you think something on the Service copies your work, open a ticket on Discord at rocketclient.net/discord from an account we can reply to. Say what the work is, where it appears on our site, and why you have the rights. We will look at it and may remove the file. Repeat or obvious theft can get the uploader banned from the workshop.

7. No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise the Service is error-free, secure, or always online, or that it will work with every PC, server, or Minecraft version.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, ACCOUNTS, ITEMS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH IS ZERO IF THE SERVICE WAS FREE).

Some places do not allow certain limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited (for example, death or personal injury caused by negligence where that cannot be excluded).

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these terms or of third-party rules (including server rules and Mojang / Microsoft / Discord terms).

10. No official support, no SLA

This is a hobby project. There is no guaranteed support, uptime, or update schedule. Help on Discord, if any, is informal and optional.

11. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the date. If a change is material, we will also note it on the website changelog. If you keep using the Service after that date, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your own country. Otherwise the courts in Germany have jurisdiction.
